Welcome to another edition of Seller of the Week! The blog series where we ask our favorite sellers five easy questions!
Kirk Pacenti was another early supporter of BikeList, listing both his fine art prints and Rivendell lug sets. Recently he listed the first production 650B mountain bike, which he designed and then displayed at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show back in 2007. We are truly grateful to have the founding father of the 27.5 mtb involved with BikeList!
The first Pontiac GTO was in 1964. And the last great year for muscle cars was 1971 (with the legendary Hemi ‘Cuda). Today the muscle cars from this era are considered timeless classics.
Today there is also a lot of interest in 80s and 90s bikes, which many people consider to be a golden era for bikes. The L’Eroica bike ride focuses on road bikes built before 1987. I generally like to focus on bikes from 1981 to 1996.
Introducing Seller of the Week! The new blog series where we ask our favorite sellers five easy questions!
Nate Zukas was an early adopter of BikeList! In fact he had our first major sale, with this awesome custom Zukas Cycles gravel frameset. So we thought it made sense to ask Nate to be our first Seller of the Week! And if you don't know his work, Nate builds titanium, steel and aluminum frames (and paints them too) in Augusta, Georgia. Check out ZukasCycles.com for more info!
This time, however, I wasn’t portaging a crumpled bike. I didn’t have my bike at all because it was stolen. I get it, countless bikes are nicked every day. It happens to the best of us. But not me. I never left my cherished bike alone for too long and always in an area bustling with life. Cautiously optimistic that my preventative measures were enough to beat the odds.
We just launched a new feature. Sellers can add a serial number for their bike or bike frame listing and BikeList will automatically search the Garage 529 Bike Registry.
It's pretty simple to use. Just create or edit a listing, find the "serial number" box on the form, input your serial number and save the listing. You'll get an email in less than a minute with the response. Below is an example of the notification mail sent to the sender, which includes a link to any bike reports found.

How many bikes is too many? I currently have around 20 (a dozen built up plus another 8 frames and parts) and consider that to be a pretty good number. However YouTuber Oldshovel has 57 bikes and has decided he needs to let some go. In this video he goes through all his bikes and identifies several that he will be listing on BikeList. So far he has listed a Pro-Flex 856, a Novara Ponderosa and a Easton Reflex. Stay tuned for more!
