Happy Lunar New Year! As we enter the Year of the Rabbit, here's a roundup of rabbit themed bikes.

Rabbit bikes on BikeList

First, is frame builder and former seller of the week Nate Zukas. Buy his stuff here!

Rabbit bikes at CABDA

We saw these Jack Rabbit micro ebikes folks at the CABDA Expo in Los Angeles earlier this month.
Here's what the 2019 Jack Rabbit micro ebike looked like a few years back.

Rabbit Bikes in Europe

While researching this article (and by "researching" I mean Googling) I found a couple of European makers.

Here's Dead Rabbit Bikes in Switzerland. Would love to see some of Björn Aeschlimann's frames in the BikeList marketplace!

And here's Bavaria's Rabbit Cycles who have the coolest website URL ever (rabbit.de) and work with titanium.

A Rabbit Air Bike

One of the more unusual finds is this Screaming Rabbit Air Bike. Check out the build diary.

Vintage Rabbit Kids Bikes

Here's a vintage All Pro SS Racy Rabbit children's bike that sold at auction last year.

And here's a vintage 1975 Murray Rabbit bike at the BMX Museum.

Did we miss any Rabbit themed bikes? Let us know in the comments and we'll add it to the post! Also, do us a favor and check out Zukas Cycles on BikeList, he's been with us since the very beginning!

What Should I Do With The MB2?

January 19, 2023 9:17am by rob
The Bridgestone MB2 is an absolutely iconic bike to me. You get the frame and fork of the MB1 combined with a more value oriented build–but really, no compromises! Grant Peterson was at the top of his game with this bike.

I was wrenching in shops when these bikes were out. Yes, they required a bit more finesse to build than the standard Trek or Giant, but they were way cooler.

I picked up this particular 1991 Bridgestone MB2 last year off Craigstlist from the original owner. It’s way too small for me at size 42cm, but I couldn’t resist. And it’s missing the original fork, headset, bb and bars. But check out that purple Chris King headset!

Then a few months ago I spotted a blue 1990 MB2 fork and grabbed that.

But then I lost steam.

So now for the question:

It’s a given that I’m gonna remove the King headset and fork and sell them separately.

So then what do I do? Sell it as a “project” with the 1990 fork? Let the new owner buy a headset and figure out if they want to restore to original or do some kind of restomod?

Do I buy and install a new headset and build it back up myself with the blue fork and then sell it? I’m not gonna paint it…

Or do I part it out? Parting out a bike that is all Shimano or all Campy doesn’t seem bad, but this is a pretty unique build that would be hard to replicate later–especially the wheels and brakes.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Another Small update to BikeList.com today

January 18, 2023 9:18pm by dan
We just made a couple of tiny updates to the site. In your BikeList Account, there is now an option to Change your Password. If you're logged in and haven't yet verified your email with us, you'll see a button to re-send the verification email both on the "Sell" page as well as in your Account. Lastly, we added the ability to "end" a listing. This will keep the original listing and photos online but mark it as no longer for sale on BikeList.

eBike Classes Explained

January 18, 2023 1:16pm by rob
Those of us who still ride "acoustic" bikes may find the various classes of ebikes confusing. But caliradokid makes it simple! And hilarious!

(Now if only someone can tell me if it's eBike, e-bike or ebike.)

I Love Shimano

January 16, 2023 10:53am by rob
I admit it: I love Shimano. They are one of the greatest innovators in cycling in the last few decades. And if it says Dura Ace, Ultegra, XTR or XT you know it's built to last. I tend to build all my bikes with Shimano parts.

I just bought these 7400 hubs and plan to build them up with a set of NOS Mavic MA40s.

I keep eyeing these beautiful XTR M952 cranks. Perhaps the best looking mtb cranks ever?

My next gravel build is going to be with a silver GRX group.

What is your next build? And will you be using Shimano parts?

Not getting emails from BikeList?

January 16, 2023 9:14am by dan
We've been hearing from members that emails are not getting through! It looks like GMAIL is putting our Welcome Mails / Email verification mails in the PROMOTIONS tab. We're working on updating the email to try to get into main inbox. In the meantime, check your promotions tab and make sure to drag the mail into your main inbox.

January 12, 2023 1:15pm by dan
We just pushed out a release with a handful of small updates and fixes. You'll probably notice the home page now shows a "or Make Offer" link next to the price. There is also a link to the blog at the top of the home page - near the sign in link. On the listing page, we made the Reply to Comment button much easier to find. Lastly, we made several improvements on the create a listing form for shipping options.

Drop us a line if there is a feature you'd like to see on BikeList or to let us know about any bugs.

Gocycle G4 at CABDA Expo

January 12, 2023 9:56am by rob
I got a demo of the Gocycle G4 at the CABDA Expo in Los Angles, and then was able to take it for a short spin. This is the nicest folding ebike I have seen yet. Not cheap at $3500 but it is compact, stylish and light! Rides great, too, with a normal big bike wheelbase.

@bikelist Checking out the @Gocycle_official at the CABDA expo in Los Angeles. This is probably the coolest folding ebike I have seen yet. I took it for a ride and it rides great, too! #gocycle #ebike #foldingbike #citybike #bike #bikelife #bikelist ♬ BOOM - Tiesto

Seller of the Week: John Guerin

January 8, 2023 2:03pm by rob
Welcome back to another edition of Seller of the Week: the blog series where we ask our favorite sellers five easy questions!

This week’s seller of the week is John Guerin AKA juanguerin. John has been one of our top sellers to date, with an eclectic and amazing variety of items from some of the brands our community loves the most: Paul Component, Chris King and Thomson just to name a few.

How did you get into bikes?

I was given my first two wheeler at age three by my Father and I've never looked back. Evel Knievel and BMX'ing in my early school years, road riding in high school and early college, and really falling in love hard in the 1990's and the birth of mountain biking.

What bike do you ride the most?

It's seasonal with the mountain single-speed in the summer months and the fat bike in the winter months.

What is your favorite bike ride?

Regardless of surface, just getting lost in new places for hours at a time, seeing new landscapes, climbing new mountains and meeting new cycling friends.

Campy or Shimano?

Bleh! It's all good. I get excited about the bling of Pauls, White Ind and King.

Any big plans for the next year?

I've registered for a number of Brevets in northern Colorado for the spring. Riding over the Big Horn mountain range in northern Wyoming in late summer which is the only range I haven't ridden yet in Wyoming. Lot's of single-speed mountain biking in between all that.
