Five E-bikes I Want to Check Out

I don’t own an
e-bike and I’m not really in the market for one, but I do watch them closely and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before I get one. My wife got a Specialized Turbo Vado last year and loves it. Here are five that interest me the most right now.
Surly Skid Loader
I have always loved
Surly. I commuted on a Surly Cross Check for ten years (and then I donated it to
BikeWorks). They are built like tanks and are endlessly adaptable to a wide variety of builds. I love the thought that went into their new
Skid Loader, plus with those beefy 27.5 wheels and tires it just looks like fun. And saying "Skid Loader" makes me crack up.
Brompton Electric
Brompton’s are just plain funky cool as urban bikes that fold easily for public transport or carrying inside and up stairs. So how about an
e-bike version? Sounds natural. And it’s just 36 pounds.
Transition Relay
Transition is the hometown favorite here in Bellingham. I saw their new
Relay e-bike posted on their Instagram this week and wow--that's a good looking bike! Here’s a cool feature: remove the battery and ride without power (and the weight) if you want! That seems to make a lot of sense.
Specialized Globe
Specialized has Rad Power Bikes in their crosshairs with their new
Globe. But where is it Specialized? I walked into the local dealer and asked and they still don’t have a delivery timeline.
Urban Arrow
If you want to talk real car substitute, the
Urban Arrow seems to be the top dog. Not cheap at $7k+ but from what I have read it sounds like you get what you pay for!
Have you ridden any of these? Do you own one? Let us know your thoughts! What e-bikes interest you the most?
