Sea Otter 2023!

I just got back from my first Sea Otter and I had a blast. From all accounts it was one of the biggest and best in recent years and the weather couldn’t have been better. There were so many brands and cool bikes there it was impossible to really take it all in. But here are a few things that jumped out at me.
The 90s are still hot
Lots of brands had 90s eye candy out front to help pull you into their booth. I loved the juxtaposition of the Ibis Szazbo and the new Ibis logo.
E-bikes are everywhere
Not just in the booths, but in the crowds. I’d say over half the folks tooling around were on some sort of e-bike. Mark Weir told me this Cannondale is one of his favorites.
Surly keeps it real
In a world of hype Surly keeps it real with some really solid offerings. I think they hit it out of the park with the new Preamble. Think of it as an updated Cross Check.
The Globe is all that and a bag of chips
Finally seeing the Specialized Globe e-bike in person did not disappoint. Stylish and practical, this cargo bike looks like a true winner. I would have demoed one but the line was too long!
Italian bikes are still sexy
I saw everything from Bianchi to Cippolni to Francesco Moser. Celeste still looks hot.
Benno bikes look amazing
Founded by Benno Baenziger, the same guy who founded Electra, these are some seriously tempting and stylish e-bike offerings. If you are in the market, be sure to check them out.
Pirelli is serious about tires
Pirelli was out in force at Sea Otter. I've always loved their car tires and their new lines of gravel and mountain bike tires look legit.
Pit Viper has the best party vibe
There was non stop party action over at the Pit Viper booth!
We’ll be back next year
This is just a taste. BikeList has big plans for Sea Otter next year!
