TL;DR - Really clean, intelligently upgraded vintage hardtail 26er (size: Medium) pristine enough to be placed under a Christmas tree for some lucky individual. That said, this bike will likely be broken up and sold for parts; just want to see if anyone was interested in enjoying it as-is before I resort to that. :) PRICE IS FIRM!

This 2006 Gary Fisher Marlin is the second 'vintage' 26er (it had rim brakes when I got it) that I built up for my personal collection. I bought it to flip a couple years ago but liked it so much I kept it and upgraded it to the nines. Yes, it's a mid-level Gary Fisher aluminum bike, nothing super rare or special. But, it's still a great platform for this build, and the end product is a hardtail worthy for trail and XC riding. I know, I know ... $400? Really? You can get a hell of a new bike for that. If that's what you want, go for it! Otherwise, keep reading...

This is a very capable hardtail. The Manitou Axel Elite fork has a very respectable (for the era)100mm of travel and was recently serviced; it's a spring fork and is in excellent condition. The Avid BB-7 disc brakes with Avid Speed Dial 5 Levers haul the bike to a stop very quickly. I added a Trans-X dropper (not sure of the amount of drop, I have to check) and a Bontrager lever. The Mavic Crossride wheelset is another great feature, as they are super light, very strong and have sealed bearings. The Deore 1x10 drivetrain shifts cleanly and with authority even under load. It's a superb setup and the gearing is well-suited to this region.

The high polished frame with black accents is in immaculate condition with effectively no real marks, scratches, dings or dents from use. See the photos. Attention to detail is everywhere on this bike, right down to the gloss black brake boss stud hole covers. Finally, the bike has been fanatically maintained. I'm one of "those people." The photos and video tell the story...
