1997 KHS Comp Vintage 26er MTB | 22" | True Temper OX III | Matte Black

Hi, I'm the MTB Recyclist (@the_mtb_recyclist on Instagram) and I specialize in vintage '90s mountain bikes, particularly steel. Today's listing is for a 22" KHS Comp, in matte black, made with True Temper OX III cro-moly.

To begin, this frame is stickered to be a 21" model, but, I measure it as 22" to the very top of the seat tube. It is in very good to excellent condition cosmetically, with only a few scrapes and dings, particularly on the top tube and the underside of the downtube. The matte black finish is very unique, I've never seen a bike like it. Dare I say...it looks very stealth-bomberish? Or is that lame? You decide. :) I checked the dropouts and derailleur hanger and everything is straight and within spec. Included with this frame: the seat post, stem, and bottom bracket (which spins very nicely and appears to have been replaced recently.) That said, the headset could use new grease (I'll do it for you upon request and the bike ships with the fork attached.) Decals are clear, bright and correct and have no damage that I can see. The chainstay has the typical marks from chain impacts but nothing too severe. There is evidence of some chainsuck but again it also is not too severe. As I said I measure this as a 22" frame. The top tube is 23.75". Rear spacing is of course 135 rear, 100 front. This TIG-welded frame is perfect for a gravel project or retro MTB build!

This bike was adult owned since new and you can tell. Always kept indoors. Ridden and enjoyed but well maintained and not abused. Be sure to check out the video...as well as the MANY PHOTOS I HAVE INCLUDED IN THE LISTING! I want you to know what you're buying!
