BikeList Featured in Bicycle Retailer!

Last week I talked to Bicycle Retailer's Ray Keener for an article he was writing on BikeList. As chance would have it, we both worked at Palo Alto Bicycles many years ago (though not at the same time) and knew some of the same people. To research his article, Ray contacted several shops selling on BikeList to ask them about their experiences selling on our platform.

To learn more about our nonprofit program, Ray talked to Pedal it Forward, a nonprofit shop in Bentonville, Arkansas.

“Local shops have given us tons of leftover stuff like apparel, accessories and shoes,” noted Executive Director Kenny Williams. “We don’t have much demand locally, and we’re selling several items every month on BikeList.”

And to learn more from independent shops, Ray reached out to Acme Bicycles in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Owner Tim Rangitsch recounted his experiences. “When Pro’s Closet had overbought and stopped taking shop submissions, we were left with a bunch of old road bikes we couldn't give away,” he remembered. “eBay’s fees were too high and their policies were shitty and not shop-friendly, so we turned to BikeList. You know you’re going to get your 9.9%. With eBay it’s a bit of a mystery. Plus BikeList uses Stripe for payment, so it’s always secure,“ Rangitsch concluded.

Small world. When I worked at Retail Tool Kit, Palo Alto was one of my clients. Nice to see the connection and paying it forward approach to the cycling industry. When seeing this article, I was intrigued to post my bike on BikeList. Hopefully, it will be fruitful for both of us.
