Kona was founded in 1988 by Dan Gerhard and Jacob Heilbron in Vancouver, Canada. The company started out as a small bike shop, but quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality mountain bikes. In 1993, Kona introduced its first full-suspension bike, the Hei Hei, which became a popular choice among mountain bikers. Over the years, Kona continued to innovate and expand its product line, introducing road bikes, commuter bikes, and e-bikes. Today, Kona is based in Bellingham, Washington, and has a global presence, with bikes sold in over 60 countries. Despite its growth, Kona remains committed to its roots, producing bikes that are durable, versatile, and designed for adventure.
